Our congratulations go to the recipient of this year’s Jean Armour Burns Trust Award, Hanna Keleman.
Hanna joined the RCS BA Acting programme in 2023.
Throughout her time on the Acting Programme, Hanna has balanced commitment to her studies with the practicalities of funding her time here; frequently travelling home to Hungary to perform in concerts to raise money towards her fees, while constantly upholding the very highest standards in her work on the programme.
Additionally, she met severe illness with courage, adapting her rehearsal process to working on-line, while hospitalised.
This determination not to let anyone down, coupled with her ability to adapt her rehearsal process under extreme circumstances, resulted in a superb leading performance in the final year production of Let the Right One In.
Hanna is described as an exceptional artist and creative.
Joyce Deans Head of Acting and Jean Sangster head of Voice and the Centre for Voice in Performance at the Royal Conservatoire had no hesitation in nominating Hanna for the prestigious Jean Armour Burns Trust Award.
They added; ‘Hanna is also a highly personable individual who goes out of her way to help people, to offer positivity and find ways round obstacles.’
In parallel with her acting career, she continues to pursue classical piano, composition, singing, puppetry, poetry, art and costume design.
Hanna was touched and humbled to receive this award, saying:
“I am most grateful for being chosen for such a wonderful prize! I found myself very surprised to hear that I was the one selected for it and would have never imagined it to be so. I feel so seen and appreciated!
Thank you endlessly for noticing my effort as a student! I will not forget it and will always be touched by it whenever I remember my years in the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland!”
